"The Glass Menagerie"

I don't think many of you have hear about our amateur school theatre "Earnest" before, but this year you had a chance to not only hear about it, but catch in "in the act". Its actors have been working hard the whole year to stage "The Glass Menagerie", and fortunately they succeeded! The premiere took place on the 10th June, preceded by a short preview for the Dutch students.

This sad story about a deserted mother, who despite best intentions keeps hurting her children, a crippled daughter, who is hiding from the world and a bastard son, whose only fault is wanting to get the best out of life, does not depict the happiest of families. That's why "Earnest" was afraid of the audience's reaction. It is much easier to stage a comedy, and include short breaks for audience's laughter, than to stage a real tragedy, not turning it into an accidental comedy.

Hopefully, the cast succeeded in their efforts, but that you can judge for yourselves
